Editorial – Sharing my passion for sewing
Having worked in PR, marketing and other roles where writing is key, I also had a job for 5 years as Editor of Sewing World Magazine. During this time I wrote several articles, features and tutorials on sewing, quilting, embroidery and textiles generally, interviewing notable artists, makers and bloggers.
Although the role was very busy I found it very rewarding to share my passion for sewing to a large diverse audience. Our website and social media channels were viewed all over the world and I got involved in large events where I met thousands of ameteur and professional makers and sewers.
I became involved in commissioning makers to create content, and took a key interest in monitoring and researching industry trends and textile innovation. I found this part most rewarding and met a diverse mix of people, and the role accelerated both my passion for and knowledge of sewing, textiles, and related crafts
